FOR RECESSED FIXTURES
Decent all-around performer. Generally good brightness and light quality, good appearance when off, and acceptable appearance when on. Unfortunately, very high-priced right now.

FOR LAMPS AND OTHER FIXTURES
A nice bulb for the right use. In a smallish (3-4in) recessed can, the flat front shows well both lit and not lit, and it's okay in a lamp as well. A bit dim, for claiming to replace a 60w. But otherwise good light quality.

FOR RECESSED FIXTURES
Smart concept to use a thin disk (attached to the socket inside the can by a power cord and a couple of spring-type clips) to cover the surface of the fixture altogether. Installation wasn't as easy as hoped, however. Light quality was reasonably good but not great - a bit pale, a turn-on delay of about a second, decent but not outstanding brightness. All in all, a good but expensive solution -- the next generation of this type of fixture might be pretty compelling, especially if the costs come down and they work on the installation process a bit.

FOR LAMPS AND OTHER FIXTURES
When lit, this bulb provides nice light quaility, a very warm light. But I'm not sure you'll want your lightbulbs to be so eye-catching when not lit. Also, at 17w, uses a bit more power versus others we've reviewed, without being particularly bright.

FOR RECESSED FIXTURES
This is just a fairly bright bulb, and that's why it's rated as high as it is. At 16w it also uses relatively more power than most bulbs tested to date. It's not very attractive when not lit, but not offensively so. It's also a very cool-white light.

To like this bulb you have to be okay with a harsh pale light. If so, then it has a nice look and feel and decent brightness.

This is a very nice light with a very nice look and feel. We like how this light looks quite a lot. Unfortunately, it's just not very bright. But in a nightstand reading lamp, it's attractive.

FOR RECESSED FIXTURES
Brightness is the only reason this bulb is rated as high as it is. The showerhead design is unattractive and the beam is overly focused. But if you need lots of light, this bulb has it.

FOR LAMPS AND OTHER FIXTURES
The price is good on this round lamp bulb. But the bulb isn't bright, and the low cost shows through in a low-quality look and feel.

It's an adequate bulb in terms of light quality and appearance, but nothing special. And at current prices, not terribly impressive value.

FOR LAMPS AND OTHER FIXTURES
Sold 2 for $20, if you just want super-cheap warm-white LED bulbs these will work. But they're clearly pretty low-end. There's a delay in turning on, and viewing through a camera there's a visible flicker (not as obvious with the naked eye, fortunately).

You may like this fixture better than its rating. But the green tinge to the light, the highly metallic look and feel, and the not-very-bright performance all make this bulb get a low assessment.

FOR LAMPS AND OTHER FIXTURES
Generally mediocre light performance, a harshly cool white (up to 6500K) color temperature, and an ugly exterior doom this bulb to a low score. Decent efficiency and a long life (50,000 hours, claimed) mean it's not a terrible bulb, however, and the warm white version may test a lot better just on color temperature alone.
